Interested in learning from 25 years of NHL experience, but unable to take several days off work? We have listened. Following feedback from Belgian clubs and equipment managers, the RBIHF has added a new flexible participation option for the 2026 Equipment Manager Course in Mechelen. Participants can now join the Wednesday evening theory session, continue from Friday afternoon through Saturday and Sunday, and still benefit from this exceptional hands-on learning opportunity with Jamie Healy — at a reduced participation fee.
Over the past days, several clubs, current equipment managers and potential new candidates contacted us with the same message: the interest was there, but taking Wednesday, Thursday and Friday off work was simply not possible.
Because Belgian ice hockey relies heavily on volunteers, we fully understand that challenge.
After discussing this with instructor Jamie Healy, we have therefore adapted the programme and created a more accessible participation option.
The new flexible programme
Participants choosing this option are asked to attend:
- Wednesday evening: theoretical session
- Friday afternoon /evening: practical programme
- Saturday: full programme
- Sunday: programme until approximately 14:30–15:00
This still gives participants access to the most important theoretical foundations together with extensive practical learning throughout the weekend.
If attending the Wednesday evening session presents a genuine difficulty, please contact us. We will look at possible solutions individually.
Same exceptional instructor, more accessible format
Jamie Healy brings approximately 25 years of NHL experience, more than 2,000 professional games and extensive international experience with USA Hockey.
The objective of this adapted programme is simple: to make that knowledge accessible to people who genuinely want to develop as equipment managers but cannot realistically take several working days off.
The reduced programme will therefore also be offered at a reduced participation fee, reflecting the shorter attendance period.
Don't assume there will be another opportunity soon
Equipment Manager Courses have now exceptionally taken place in two consecutive years, but we do not currently foresee another course in the immediate future.
