Last Monday October 16, the team of Gil Paelinck and Sami Lipsonen played their 2nd selection game vs the Dutch National selection in Tilburg.
During these first games the coaching staff is trying different potential players to make the final selection. Also, this game several new players joined the team.
Shortly after the openings face-off, the Dutch National selection managed to shoot the puck past our goalie and opened the score 1-0. The Belgians worked hard and provided the required pressure without much result until Tobi Gentry and Robbe Delport found the net.
The Belgians started the final period with a comfortable 1-4 lead. But as usual, our Dutch neighbours play always a strong 3rd period especially when behind in score.. The Dutch selection managed to get back in the game by scoring 2 more goals making it an exciting game again. Belgium however managed to limit the damage and won the game with a 3-5 score.
Coach Gil Paelinck has still some more games and practices planned but aims to have his final selection on paper over the next couple of weeks. Then there will follow several exhibition games to get the team ready for their championship early January 2024 in Serbia.
