Do you love ice hockey, skate confidently and want to experience the game from the very heart of the action? The Royal Belgian Ice Hockey Federation is looking for new referees aged 14 and over. Refereeing offers speed, challenge, teamwork and leadership, while giving you a completely new perspective on the sport you already enjoy. Join one of our upcoming online information sessions in Dutch, French or English and discover how you can take your first steps towards becoming an officially trained ice hockey referee in Belgium this coming September.
Without referees, there is no ice hockey. Officials are at the heart of every game: close to the action, making important decisions and working together to keep matches fair, safe and enjoyable.
Becoming a referee is also an excellent opportunity to develop valuable skills. You will improve your decision-making, communication, teamwork and leadership while remaining actively involved in the sport.
Who can apply?
We are looking for enthusiastic candidates who:
- Are good and confident skaters
- Are at least 14 years old
- Have an interest in ice hockey and officiating
- Are willing to learn, develop and accept a new challenge
Previous refereeing experience is not required. The online information session is the ideal starting point for anyone who would like to discover what the role involves and how to begin.

- Français: 22 septembre 2026, de 20h00 à 21h00
- English: 23 September 2026, from 20:00 to 21:00
During the session, we will introduce you to ice hockey officiating, explain how you can get started and give you the opportunity to ask questions.
