They’re often the first to arrive and the last to leave. Behind the scenes, they ensure everything is perfectly prepared — from sharpened skates to ready-to-go gear. Equipment managers are the unsung heroes of every ice hockey team, and their work is a craft in itself.
For the first time in Belgium, the Royal Belgian Ice Hockey Federation (RBIHF), in collaboration with the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) and USA Hockey, is organizing a unique three-day training program for both aspiring and experienced equipment managers. This course will take place on August 29, 30, and 31, and will combine both theoretical knowledge and hands-on practice.
Led by an experienced member of the USA National Team’s equipment staff, participants will be immersed in the secrets of the trade. How do you become a great equipment manager? What is expected of you? And what are the essential tips and tricks of the job? These questions and more will be addressed during this intensive training.
The course will be conducted entirely in English and is open to both newcomers and seasoned equipment managers looking to refresh or deepen their skills. At the end of the program, participants will receive an official certificate.
Additionally, the federation will use this opportunity to scout for new talent to support and rejuvenate the equipment team of our national squads.
Interested? Be sure to mark the dates in your calendar! Registration will open soon — don’t miss this unique opportunity to become part of an essential pillar of Belgian ice hockey.
