Marine Dinant just finished her first senior women's world championship.
Due to CORONA, the world championship was postponed and last 2 weeks HERNING (Denmark) was the epicenter of women's ice hockey in the world.
The participation of Marine is without a doubt a unique achievement, which has never been seen before in Belgium. It is at least remarkable that a non-participating country is appointed an official at this level.
Just before CORONA, Marine was already at the top level, but then with u18 where she was also selected to officiate several top games.
The world championship is already the absolute top for many, but there is just that little bit more. The IIHF is currently working on the selection of the officials for the upcoming Olympic Winter Games, given her performance Marine has already managed to get her name on the long-list. The next 2 seasons are now essential to make this dream come true.
Marine proves that there are a lot of opportunities for women in Belgian ice hockey, women's ice hockey is growing in Belgium, and slowly but surely the interest among the ladies for the referee position is also growing. During the last National referee weekend there was new interest since a long time, which hopefully ensures the succession in the coming years.
