European Championship Inline Hockey: Strong Opponents hold off Belgians European Championship Inline Hockey: Strong Opponents hold off Belgians
CHARLEROI - Today Thursday, July 27, our Belgian Teams faced some tough opponents.

Team SEN Men started the day against strong-holder France. Next to Canada and the Czech Republic one of the best teams in the world. The French machine worked flawlessly, and every action was fully exploited by our western neighbors. Fast and accurate, the French scored seven goals in the first period. The Belgians remained scoreless. In the second period 'Les Bleus' ran out even further to 13 points with our boys failing to score despite some well-played attempts.

In their second game of the day, the Belgians faced-off against Germany. In a first phase, both teams were evenly matched. Only towards the end of the first period did the Germans find an opening to score their first goal. In the second period, the Germans manage to create more scoring opportunities and finish effectively as well. Axl Kila sweetened the bitter pill by removing the zero from the scoreboard via a well-placed distance shot. Final score 1-8.

"A good first period with a lot of chances," commented Team Captain Thomas De Smit. "And in which everyone did their job properly. In the second period, however, we let it slip. We then gave up goals and that resulted in a frantic situation where everyone wanted to score to get back into the game. However, we are making progress throughout the tournament, so that is a good thing."

Team U19 Women also played against France today. The French Women were also a size too strong for our girls. Final score 0-8.

Team U17 Men played Great Britain today. The British supremacy became too much for our boys. Final score 0-9.
