EC Inline Hockey Charleroi: First day of Competitions for Team BEL SENM, U19W and U17M EC Inline Hockey Charleroi: First day of Competitions for Team BEL SENM, U19W and U17M

CHARLEROI - After our SEN Women and U19 Men, today, Wednesday July 26, our SEN Men, the U19 Women, and the U17 Men started their EC campaign.

Our U19 girls kicked off and took the face-off against a very strong Spain. And it showed in the final score of 13-1 in favor of the Spaniards. The Junior Red Wheels fought hard, but the difference in level was too big.

Goalie Céline Böhm testified, "There was lightning-fast play. We tried to defend well, but our opponent was really strong."

In their second game of the day against Italy, our girls recovered, and a win was in the cards. It was a neck-and-neck race that was narrowly lost against the Squadra Azzurra by 1-2.

Our SEN Men's team faced Switzerland in the opening match. The Swiss outclassed our boys 13-2.

"However, we started well, but the boys did have some stress. Especially regarding puck possession,"responds coach Kristof Van Looy"We adjusted a bit, and it went better after that. Both our goalies also played well. The first games are against strong opponents, we knew that. The Swiss were individually stronger and better trained. We are building with this team for the next few years. The foundation has been laid and I am very positively surprised by all the young players who have joined. Today's score is less important. The atmosphere and spirit within the team are good. We knew this was going to be a tough start, especially after the opening ceremony. Tomorrow, we face France and Germany, which will also be a though day of competition."

Team U17 Men also debuted with a defeat. Namibia sidelined the juniors by double digits. The final score was 12-2.
