ANDORRA - The national women's team played the fifth and final match of their campaign at the IIHF Women's World Championships Division 2 Group A in Canillo, Andorra today, April 13. Opponent today was Mexico.
 
Mexico put a lot of pressure on the Belgian Blades, and it showed in the number of shots on goal. Swinnen (#20/BEL) keeps her team in the game, but in the seventh minute Rojas (#21/MEX) manages to outsmart the Belgian goalie and Mexico takes the lead.
 
Midway through the second period, there is a goalie change for the Belgians. Smits (#1/BEL) replaces Swinnen (#20/BEL). With a Belgian player on the penalty bench, the Mexicans take full advantage of the power play and score for the second time.
 
In the sixth minute of the third period, the Mexicans strike again. And then things move quickly. Moments later, team Mexico works an attack tightly with a fourth goal that is followed almost immediately with a fifth goal. The gap is suddenly very wide to keep up. In the twelfth minute, the Belgian Blades get a chance to force a goal on the power play, but in vain. Nevertheless, our ladies continued to put pressure on the opponent, but the Mexican defense did not give an inch. And then it happens, with three minutes left on the clock Steeno (#9/BEL) saves the Belgian honor with a beautiful goal from the slot. In the last minute, however, the Mexicans score again which brings the final score to 6-1.
