BELGRADO - The national men's U20 team played the first match of its World Championship campaign in Division 2 Group B in the Serbian capital Belgrade today, January 14th. The Belgians started their campaign on a strong note with a victory over Chinese Taipei.
The Belgians took advantage of a power play in the first period to move into the lead. While Chen (#9/TPE) serves a penalty time for charging, Delport (#22) scores on an assist from Moonen (#19).
Two minutes into the second period, Team Taipei manages to counter the score and put the equalizer on the scoreboard. Eight minutes later, Gentry (#9) widens the gap again by netting the puck past goalie Kao (#1/TPE) a second time.
Early in the third period, Gentry scores his second goal, the final score of the game.
