SOFIA - The U18 national women's team played the second match of its World Championship campaign in Division 2 Group B in Bulgaria's capital Sofia today, January 9th. Today’s opponent was Iceland.

Once again, the teams were evenly matched. No goals were scored in the first period. Iceland put a lot of pressure on the Belgian goal, but goalie Anouk Belmans (#25) kept her team in the game. 

However, halfway through the second period the first goal entered the Belgian net. Fridrika Magnusdottir (#14) outsmarts the Belgian goalie and Iceland takes the lead.

In the last period the Belgian Blades put more pressure on the Icelandic goal, but in vain. No more goals were scored. Team Belgium narrowly loses the match. 

Final score: 0-1 (0-0; 0-1; 0-0)

MVP Team BEL: Anouk Belmans (#25)

"We went down with dignity during a game where we were under pressure all the time. Losing is a learning experience," coach Tim Vos commented.
